So to all the true Weezy fans, I think we can honestly say we have licked ourselves to the tootsie roll center of this lollipop. Yes, I do have the uncut version as well, but the charts are based off the radio. But the song is so bleeped out, I swear I am only hearing around 67% of the lyrics in the song. Weezy is consistently one of the most lyrically talented artists that I have ever heard, with his new found Kanye-like swagger, and increasingly sexually insidious lyricism he can only get better. Weezy has sold over a million copies of Tha Carter III, and I have given my praise to Lil’ Wayne for his innovative freestyle flows, and his catchy beats. Never one for sloppy production, Nas brings it again on Untitled, with beatmakers and master loopers like Stargate, DJ Toomp, Mark Ronson, and of course Green Lantern who produced Nas’ pre-album mixtape using the previous, more controversial album title Nas planned on releasing. Nas is one of the remaining emcees who talks about important issues-as he points out, “the last of a dying breed.” If you can get past the cockiness, and I suggest you try, there is a lot to enjoy on this album.
